After a rather turgid Bahrain Grand Prix at the front of the pack, there was plenty of action going on behind between the three new teams. Coming out on top where LotusF1 who were able to get both cars to the finish. Well, Hekki Kovalainen finishing 2 laps down and Jarno Trulli pulling up at the last corner with hydraulic failure but still classified. Both Virgin’s retired with gearbox and hydraulic failures respectively and both HRT’s retired too. Although Bruno Senna was able to last longer than both Virgins, giving Hispania Racing Team some well deserved points.
The fastest lap of the new boys was posted by 2:02.701 set on lap 47. This leaves Lotus F1 way out in the lead with 17 points from the first race with both HRT and Virgin tied with 5 points each. Not bad for a racing team that only just finished constructing its car on the Friday morning. Virgin need to up their game somewhat.
